| Abstract |
The relation existing between atmospheric electricity and the nervous system of the human body is well known. More recent studies and the knowledge of the action mechanism of aeroions have shown the correlation between gaseous ions and chemical mediators of the central nervous system. The negative ions produce a sedative effect, an effect of general wellbeing, while the positive ions provoke a sensation of discomfort, headache and nausea. It has been experimental1y demonstrated, that the intravenous injection of serotonin provokes in laboratory animals reactions very similar to those produced by inhalation of positive ions, particularly in the respiratory tract. The mentioned facts have induced us to study the effect of aeroionization on patients with anxiety syndromes. Persons suffering from psychoneurosis, apprehension and fear were treated in special rooms with negative aeroions in sessions varying from 15 minutes to 2 hours and cycles of 10 to 20 applications.The results were favorable: Almost 80 per cent of the patients treated with aeroions has shown a complete disappearance or a diminution of the manifested syndromes. Most conspicuous was the disappearance of somatic symptoms. In conclusion it can be stated that aero-ionotherapy has a favorable effect on psychoneuroses and the anxiety syndromes. |
