Marine and Coastal Science for Management (MASMA) program, the first regional competitive research grant mechanism, provides funding and technical support for coastal and marine research, training and communication in the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region. The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) and the Coastal Managemment Research Center (COMREC) of the Södertörn Högskola coordinate the program, which was initiated in December 2000. MASMA is funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida)/SAREC. |
