This disk contains a compilation of the Joint Archive for Sea Level (JASL) Research Quality Data Set (RQDS) and the Global Sea Level Observing System (GLOSS) Core Network (GCN) as of 2002.The JASL Research Quality Data Set (RQDS) is the largest global collection of quality-controlled hourly sea level. For more information on this data set see the jasqrd README.txt document included on this disk.The Global Sea Level Observing System (GLOSS) is an international programme conducted under the auspices of the Joint Technical Commisssion for Oceanography and Marine Meteorology (JCOMM) of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC). The programme became known as GLOSS as it provides data for deriving the 'Global Level of the Sea Surface'. The main component of GLOSS is the 'Global Core Network' (GCN) of 290 sea level stations around the world for long term climate change and oceanographic sea level monitoring. The present definition of the GCN is called GLOSS02. |
