Abstract
    Penilia avirostris, a widely distributed Calyptomera species, has been observed with the scanning electron microscope. The main morphological aspects of this species have been compared with those of the three species belonging to the genus Evadne, Gymnomera Cladocera. Moreover, the structure of some appendages has been studied in relation with feeding.
