Abstract

Check-list of Eastem Sicily marine algae: "Rhodophyceae", "Phaeophyceae" and "Chlorophyceae". A revised check-list of the Eastern Sicily marine algal flora is produced on the basis of personal collections and bibliographical data. 463 species, 2 subspecies, 18 varieties and 5 forms are listed: 322 Rhodophyceae, 97 Phaeophyceae and 69 Chlorophyceae. 10 species are first produced by the Authors in this contribution. Two of them have never been mentioned by other Authors for Sicily (Goniolithon byssoides and Trailiella intricata) and two other are new to Italy (Chondria scintillans and Halothrix lumbricalis).
