Abstract

In the frame of a monitoring program, a systematic water sampling was carried out in different sites in the North Lake of Tunis. Sampling was performed twice a month from September 2005 to September 2006. The phytoplankton community was generally dominated by dinoflagellates or diatoms. During this annual cycle, the main results were: the detection of many potentially harmful species such as Pseudo-nitzschia spp., Dinophysis spp., Alexandrium spp., Prorocentrum spp. , Gyrodinium spp. and Coolia monotis.
