Abstract
The aim of this study is to undertake a feasibility analysis on the introduction of measures to prevent and/or clean up litter, including plastic litter, and to reduce the quantity of litter that could potentially reach the seas. It aims to build on the initiatives of the EC concerning plastic bags and biodegradable plastics and will complement the findings of two other studies being carried out for the Commission: - Pilot project - plastic recycling cycle and marine environmental impact - Casestudies on the plastic cycle and its loopholes in the four European regional seas areas (ENV.D.2/ETU/2011/0041); and - Study of the largest loopholes within the flow of packaging material (ENVD.2/ETU/2011/0043)
