Abstract
The results of an investigation on the composition, density and distribution of meiofauna in four sandy and muddy sites around Port Blair are presented and discussed. The findings are in close conformity with those reported from similar habitats in Andaman Islands and other global regions. The density and diversity or meiofauna was far greater in sandy beaches compared to the muddy ones. Of the four sites investigated, the sandy beach at Carbyn's Cove with a rich variety or species appeared the most natural, while the muddy one at Fisheries jetty supporting only a few dominant species was the most disturbed.
