Abstract
Ecoacoustics is a recently formalized new discipline and people are now focusing on soundscapes using a clearer and more defined scientific approach. Animal sounds and soundscapes have the potential to serve science and conservation as well as education by triggering the curiosity and interest of people. It is now recognized that soundscapes have both ecological and social value and are considered natural resources worthy of study, management, and conservation. The collection of habitat and animal species sound recordings is important as a primary tool for biodiversity monitoring and for developing management and conservation strategies as well as for educational purposes. Noise pollution has been shown to have an impact on all zoological groups. When the acoustic habitat is degraded, animal acoustic communication and acoustic sensing are degraded and the acoustic community is disrupted. Without proper functioning of acoustic communication, the entire social system can become dysfunctional.
