Abstract

The post-traumatic regeneration of the arms in young S. officinalis (dorsal mantle length = 2 to 5 cm) is described. Six morphological stages have been established. In order, they are: wound healing, formation of a bud, growth of regenerating arm, formation of the suckers, appearance of the first chromatophores, recovery of motor function. The regeneration of the arms of the cuttle-fish is complete.
