Abstract

In a population of O. labronic, collected from the Bay of Naples, the effects of inbreeding on viability, fertility and some other characters were studied. The genetic load of this population was indirectly evaluated from viability depression in generations with 0.25 and 0.37 value for inbreeding coefficient. The magnitude of the hidden genetic variability estimate seems to correspond to the ecological requirements of O. labronica.
