Abstract
    A new species, Micronephthys maryae n.sp. (Polychaeta: Nephtyidae), has been discovered on shallow sandy bottoms off the Balearic Islands, Spain. The species differs from all other known members of the genus in possessing heavy specialized notosetae on setiger 1.
