Abstract
    Coastal macroalgae provide an array of resources for exploitation by a wide variety of invertebrates. Their fronds frequently support dense epifaunal assemblages within which sedentary filter feeders such as bryozoans, serpulids, hydroids, sponges and tunicates are well represented. Since the availability of two dimensional space for attachment is often restricted in such habitats, competition for this resource is potentially severe.
