Abstract

Three new species, two from the NW. Atlantic Lurus castor and L. pollux and one from the S. Pacific, L. tyndareus, are added to Lurus evelinae Marcus, 1950. The uniqueness of Lurus as the only genus of the order Rhabdocoela possessing a statocyst is acknowledge with the erection of a new family, Luridae. Variability of statolith numbers is compared with that of Catenulida-Retronectidae, and the anatomy of the reproductive system is discussed within the framework of Dalyellioida.
