The eyestalk and the ventral nerve cord of the prawn Palaemonetes punicus have been the subject of immunocytochemical investigations by fluorescent microscope. Five antibodies have been used against: the Hyperglycemic Hormone of the crab Carcinus maenas (CHH), the Adipokinetic Hormone of Insects (AKH), the Substance P Hormone, the Bombesin Hormone and the Serotonin Hormone. The Substance P-like was observed in little quantities in the sinus gland and the Medulla Terminalis X Organ (MTGX). Any positive reaction was observed by using anti-Bombesin. Using anti-CHH of C. maenas, immuno-positive staining was obtained in some neurosecretory cells of the MTGX, and in the major part of the sinus gland and in the nerve joining the MTGX to the neurohemal gland. Using the antiserum produced against the Insect adipokinetic Hormone (AKH), it was possible to detect adipokinetic hormone-reactive peptides in some neurosecretory cells of MTGX, of MEX and in the lower part in the sinus gland. The anti-5HT was used only on the ventral nerve cord of the prawn. The results are positives. |
