Abstract
    This thesis examines the influence of varying waterdepths and currents on waves due to tides and surges by doing simulations with the program SWAN. The bathymetry for these simulations is built with respect to the position of the references for water measurements . The data for waterlevel and currents used for the simulations are computed with a numerical model. Also a run has been done where measurements have been used for the determination of waterlevels. Missing data were supplemented with data from calculations for pure tide . The simulations are done with a timestep of one hour for a period of three days. For each period five simulations are executed in which one factor is modified. Afterwards they are compared with eachother to examine the influence of each effect separately.
    Waveheight and period vary with changing waterlevel. The influence of currents depends on wether the wave travels in the same or in opposite direction to the current.
