Over het archief
Het OWA, het open archief van het Waterbouwkundig Laboratorium heeft tot doel alle vrij toegankelijke onderzoeksresultaten van dit instituut in digitale vorm aan te bieden. Op die manier wil het de zichtbaarheid, verspreiding en gebruik van deze onderzoeksresultaten, alsook de wetenschappelijke communicatie maximaal bevorderen.
Dit archief wordt uitgebouwd en beheerd volgens de principes van de Open Access Movement, en het daaruit ontstane Open Archives Initiative.

| Abstract |
On March 27, 1964, a giant earthquake occured along the Alaskan-Aleutian megathrust (Mw 9.2). In order to predict the next megathrust earthquake, sediment cores from several lakes in southern Alaska will be studied, allowing the construction of a multi-lake paleoseismic record, from which an estimate of the recurrence rate of megathrust earthquakes in Alaska can be inferred. |
