Over het archief

Het OWA, het open archief van het Waterbouwkundig Laboratorium heeft tot doel alle vrij toegankelijke onderzoeksresultaten van dit instituut in digitale vorm aan te bieden. Op die manier wil het de zichtbaarheid, verspreiding en gebruik van deze onderzoeksresultaten, alsook de wetenschappelijke communicatie maximaal bevorderen.

Dit archief wordt uitgebouwd en beheerd volgens de principes van de Open Access Movement, en het daaruit ontstane Open Archives Initiative.

Abstract

This book provides essential information for the marine shipping sector to undergo a systemic transformation. This book sets the scene through an overview of the current status and prospects of trade flows as well as regulations in support of global sustainable development targets and the fight against climate change that are shaping them. It then goes on to examine state-of-the-art propulsion advancements, with a thorough analysis of internal combustion engine components and their optimized design depending on the alternative fuel that is being used.
