| Abstract |
This study focuses on the lubrication characteristics of the stern bearing during ship steering, aiming to provide scientific guidance for theoretical research in this field. The displacement superposition method is employed to establish a mathematical model of the bidirectional bending of the stern shaft, based on which a lubrication model considering shaft deformation is developed. Numerical analysis is conducted to investigate the effects of horizontal and vertical loads on stern bearing lubrication performance. The results indicate that as lateral and vertical loads increase, the lubrication film thickness decreases, pressure rises, and pressure differences become more pronounced, leading to lubrication deterioration. However, within a safe range, higher loads can reduce friction. Additionally, under low lateral loads, lubrication differences between turning directions are minimal, whereas under high-load conditions, leftward turning exhibits superior lubrication performance, with its advantage becoming more significant as the load increases. |
