Abstract |
General Circulation Models offer indications of possible climate change. European-scale climate-change scenarios can be formulated. For assessment of ecological impacts two approaches are considered: analogue and analytical. The analogue assessment is limited by many biogeographical differences between regions, other than climate itself. For the analytical assessment many details are needed with regard to extremes of climate which operate the ecological selection. From available climate data many relevant details can be derived, which can be related to projected changes of mean values of climate. Attention should be paid to the time scales of climatic events and climate change in relation to time scales of ecological processes. |
