Abstract |
Hydraulic model tests on wave overtopping over the rubble mound breakwater protecting the Ostia yacht harbour were performed. Tests in both 2D and 3D were performed to hindcast measured overtopping rates during storm events from prototype measurements. The paper presents the field and laboratory measurements and a comparison between results from the field measurements and the model tests. Clear differences in overtopping rates are shown and scale and model effects are discussed. The present case is an excellent example to show the existence of scale effects for wave overtopping at rubble mound breakwaters. |
